First Growl
First Growl (currently in development) is a fast growing new online property. While the details around this amazing idea are still under wraps until launch, the buzz is getting pretty big. First Growl turned out to be one of the sites we most loved doing. A great client, great idea, and they let us run with it. We turned their tiny idea into a hugely fun and inspiring website. We want to say so much more, but we’re sworn to secrecy! Stay tuned!

BTZ Law came to us with the task of redesigning their website. They weren’t extremely unhappy with their current design, but some things had to go. They didn’t want anything huge, just a straight-forward redesign. We used best practices and moved the content around so it was easier to read by the user, we changed the colour scheme, and made the code easily updatable. Couple this with the free training we are providing them so they’ll be able to update the site on their end, and they have a brand new and shiny site they can use and update to their heart’s content.
Crush Lane
Crush Lane, a Toronto based custom jewellery designer came to us needing a new website. Of course, we obliged. Wanting something grungy, something that would feature their models on the homepage, and with the ability to easily update, we created what is now crushlane.com
Using a dark palette, with grunge accents, and a nice seemless layout that would feature the work cleanly, crushlane.com was born.
Mycondonetwork.com
Mycondonetwork.com was and still is one of our largest client’s. With the task of repairing their online identity, from the horrible state that their search engine optimization was in, from using an SEO company that implemented terrible practices, to a defunct content management system, Big Blue Hippo went in and overhauled the whole thing.
From creating a brand new, more engaging design. A design that features the most important content first. Tools to calculate mortgages and taxes, as well as functionality that pulls in blog posts, this was the front end. Then onto the backend - creation of a content management system built from scratch in Ruby on Rails, this feature now allows our client to update virtually any part of the site without intervention from us nerds. (But of course, we’re here to answer all their questions and more).
Then, our favourite part - SEO. We took My Condo Network’s SEO bad practices and threw them in the garbage. Within 60 days of launch, MCN’s bounce rate had dropped 50%! They ranked on the Google top 3 spots for “Toronto Real Estate” and “Toronto Condos”. They are still currently ranking on the first page, for many important real estate keywords.
This combined with a blog, and a massive online strategy to garner a better web presence, we brought MyCondoNetwork.com online.
